i don't get what you want to say, you need help to fix the head to the shaft?

I dont think i like the capping as an "add-on" i think MILK should only do professional products. MILK has one of the best looking and best engineered mallet heads out there, why ruin it. Simplicity in engineering should be its selling point. Not adaptation. Thats my opinion.

Absolutely.

Was thinking out of loud about a double capped head. Working with CNC and extruded rod exclude the possibility of a double capped in the mass obviously.

Ok i've see it, let's continue about your message topic on facebook (i've messaged you on facebook about that before i read your message btw :)

Don't get your message though, if it was this morning my facebook messages was fucked for 1-2 hours.

Yes it's Simple Cap 1.1 and Simpl 1.0 for now.

For the record, i play two side open, but yes, maybe double caped will be soon on the trend.
A way to cap the open side, a separate cap could be a good addition.

BUT: does the cap in the mass will still make sense if we have a good cap system?

I doubt we will change the length for this model (the 125mm).

But we have in mind to do a 115mm that would fit the need of people who like shorter and lighter heads, this one could potentially goes to 82g (2g gain from the thinner walls and 6g in the triangle).

We may can produce 4 models:

cap: 115 / 125
uncap: 115 / 125

But about lighter and medium model:
In my opinion they have to be all as strong as the current model, because how can you promote a lighter/weaker model?

"lighter model for girls/kids?"

Maybe the lighter could be 60mm diameter ( http://poloschlaeger.de/ is 60mm for exemple) at this diameter it could be just under 80g.

We don't know now what will be our next step to be frank.

By the way, how would you call the capped one? Simple Cap? Simple Capped?
(and are you on facebook)

Funny seeing as the weight difference was hardly any at all.

In fact we haven't added material, we have mainly moved it: the corner was too solid for the rest (walls/cap).

I think we can gain some weight in the following part, what you think?:

The thing is: the extra material keep the open end round (the shape stay as much as possible as a circle) so i wouldn't cut too much of it.

Other thing: smaller diameter (currently 63mm) save a lot of weight from 63 to 61 save 8g.
This will make the head more solid and much lighter but can we talk about the same head after all?
A ball is arround 63-65mm diameter for what it worth.

Yes, i have two heads who have been tested since more than a month now, i will post some picture.

They still look good.

Thanks, pretty good so far.

We have been able to slam them pretty hard with hard ball in these remaining "cold" days. (We broke 1-2 fixcraft hotball)... For now the cap and the walls have not been altered.

That being said the weather will be hotter and hotter since now, so the balls won't be as much as hard as in the middle of the winter.

It can looks a bit an "amateur" way to do/test/produce things but we can't afford more R&D in this product, but don't worry, we won't sell kind of "alpha or beta" pre-production heads, it's gonna be pretty much the same SC1.0 with minor changes in a good way.

Not sure what 3d modeling software you use, but solidworks eq has some nice strength test plugins (cosmos). Not cheap to have legally though, but there are always ways around that ;)

I use autodesk Inventor but i think i ll check solid work soon.

By the way the new batch is on the way: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.278205452268588.67475.185451141544020&type=3

Request, ideas and thoughts / Re: The handle
« on: March 16, 2012, 10:02:58 AM »
Nice.

Too skinny for my taste, don't you feel to much the vibrations?

I have re-done mine, i use old tube instead of cardboard to shape the handle square (thanks Benji about that).
I fold the tube in two and place it the long of the handle, i made this operation 4 times (for each face).

I'm pretty happy about that, it could be a bit thicker.

When the CNC will be avaible it's gonna be a busy week mixing stress test and production, i will keep you inform about that here.

S1.0 (without cap) will remain the same for now, the feedback is 100% positive, i play myself with an S1.0.

Thanks for taking part of this by the way.

Waiting for the CNC to be available asap (1-2weeks).

it's now 20mm, you think it could be like 22mm?

Yeah curved design is pretty but let's the head be pretty on the outside and tough-ugly in the inside :)

This:

It's + 3g (from current SC1.0)

The middle flat part on the cap cannot be less than 20mm, this middle part is now 4.5mm (3mm in SC1.0 and 5mm in the drawing above).
It could be less but i don't think i will do it thinner.
I have change the outer filet radius from 8 to 7mm.

Keep in mind that all the grams thing is  theoretical at this point. But basically between the app and the reality the delta is +/- 2g
